In order to further advance innovative approaches in mental health education, enhance students' psychological resilience, strengthen the foundation of our school's mental health support system, and foster a positive and harmonious atmosphere for nurturing well-being, the first Campus Psychological Drama Competition, themed "Gathering Strength Through Drama, Pursuing Growth with Dreams," was successfully held on the afternoon of April 10. The event invited distinguished judges, including Professor Wang Liqian, Director of the Mental Health Service Center at Hebei Vocational College of Rail Transportation and Deputy Director of the National College Psychological Drama Evaluation Committee; Ma Liang, a senior counselor at Hebei University of Economics and Business; and Xue Tongtong, Director of the Mental Health Education Guidance Center. Vice President Feng Baoqiang attended the competition, along with the Director of the Student Affairs Office, deputy secretaries of the Party branches from various secondary colleges, psychological counselors, participating teams, and student representatives—totaling over 300 participants.
This year's competition featured 15 outstanding plays, creatively exploring themes such as academic pressure, interpersonal relationships, and self-awareness. Through concise plots, focused storytelling, and vivid character portrayals, the performances depicted the psychological conflicts and dilemmas students encounter in daily life, academics, and social interactions. By integrating clear themes, well-designed settings, and nuanced character development, the plays encouraged the audience to reflect on their own mental struggles from fresh perspectives, offering inspiration and food for thought. The Two Voices Within delved into self-awareness and personal growth, portraying a protagonist’s internal battle between an "optimistic self" and a "pessimistic self." The play guided the audience to reflect on finding oneself amid confusion and achieving self-improvement. Under the Same Roof focused on conflict and reconciliation in relationships, highlighting the power of understanding and tolerance, allowing youth to shine even in shared struggles. Hey! Anxiety, Go Away! tackled setbacks like postgraduate entrance exams and job hunting, encouraging students to maintain optimism and face challenges courageously. With vivid performances, emotional depth, and thought-provoking themes, the competition brought relatable psychological stories to the stage, beautifully illustrating the essence of mental health education. Each participating team delivered passionate and professional performances, authentically conveying the characters' inner worlds and resonating deeply with the audience.
After intense competition, the School of Music and the School of Geographical Sciences and Environmental Studies won the first prize in this Psychological Drama Competition. The School of Literature and History, the School of Economics and Management, the School of Law and Sociology, and the School of Journalism and Communication were awarded second prize. Nine schools including Yueda International Art College, the School of Fine Arts and Design, and the School of Teacher Education received third prize. The School of Foreign Languages, the School of Sciences/Physics, the School of Economics and Management, the School of Teacher Education, and the School of Music were honored with the Outstanding Organization Award. The Best Screenplay Awards went to: Under the Same Roof, Declaration of Imperfection, Growth on the Edge, The Bridge, Hey! Anxiety, Go Away.
This psychological drama competition served as a profoundly meaningful mental health education lesson. By leveraging the innovative and emotionally compelling medium of situational theater, it skillfully integrated mental health knowledge into performances, creating a valuable platform for students to showcase their talents, effectively relieve stress, and deeply explore their inner world. Moving forward, the university will continue to enrich the essence of psychological education. Through diverse activities, we aim to foster a campus culture where every member values mental well-being, supporting students' healthy growth and holistic development. This initiative will inject new psychological vitality into building a harmonious campus community.
