Recently, Hebei Provincial Department of Science and Technology issued the “Notice of Hebei Provincial Department of Science and Technology on Announcing the List of the Fourth Batch of Provincial Science Popularization Demonstration Bases”. Three projects applied by SJZU were successfully selected, including the “Hebei Provincial Cyber-security Demonstration and Experimental Science Popularization Base”, “Hebei Provincial Dual-Carbon Technology Science Popularization Base”, and “Hebei Provincial Artificial Intelligence Application Scenario Science Popularization Base”.
Hebei Provincial Cyber-security Demonstration and Experimental Science Popularization Base primarily leverages the resource advantages of the Network Information Center of SJZU to establish a comprehensive platform integrating education, practice, and service. The base focuses on the promotion of cyber-security laws and regulations, awareness education, emergency drills, skill competitions, and operational service education. Through a combination of online and offline activities, simulated attacks and defenses, virtual simulations, and other multi-dimensional methods, the base conducts face-to-face lectures, situational interactions, practical drills, and other activities to comprehensively disseminate cyber-security knowledge. By establishing an educational chain of “learning-training-competition-application”, the base contributes to the construction of a safe campus cyber-ecosystem.
Hebei Provincial Dual-Carbon Technology Science Popularization Base is primarily established through the Carbon Neutrality Research Center of SJZU. The base is positioned to fulfill functions such as carbon peak and carbon neutrality education, scientific research, science popularization, and think tank. The base comprises two parts: indoor and outdoor. The indoor part consists of a carbon emission monitoring laboratory, a low-carbon energy utilization laboratory, and a database platform system; the outdoor part features a zero-carbon/low-carbon campus landscape. It can provide education and science popularization on carbon peak and carbon neutrality knowledge, as well as scientific research on climate change adaptation, to graduate students, college and high school students, and members of society at all levels, both on campus and off campus.
Hebei Provincial Artificial Intelligence Application Scenario Science Popularization Base is built upon the foundation of the former Zhilian Future Popular Science Demonstration Base of SJZU. The base focuses on the development plan of artificial intelligence application scenarios in Hebei Province and is committed to building a comprehensive platform integrating talent cultivation, scientific research, practical application, and professional popular science. It boasts six provincial-level scientific research platforms and over ten AI-related training centers, covering cutting-edge technology fields such as machine learning, computer vision, and intelligent speech. With an average annual reception of tens of thousands of public visitors, it provides a rich practical and experiential environment for scientific researchers, university financial personnel, university students, and the general public.
For a long time, SJZU has attached great importance to science popularization work, fully leveraging its own advantageous resources to build various science popularization platforms. Up to now, five provincial-level science popularization demonstration bases have been approved in SJZU. In the future, the university will continue to strengthen the construction of hardware and software conditions for science popularization bases, play a leading and driving role in popularizing scientific knowledge, advocating scientific methods, spreading scientific ideas, and promoting scientific spirit, and contribute the strength of SJZU to the development of science popularization in Hebei Province.
