Our Student Hao Jiapeng Won the First Global Chinese Poetry Collection Award

On April 11, the “Poetry Bridges the Past and Present, Elegance Gathers in Xuannan.” 2025 “Centenary Lilac Poetry Society” series of cultural activities was opened in Beijing under the guidance of CCTV and the Propaganda Department of Beijing Municipal Committee, and undertaken by the Literature and Arts Centre of CCTV and the October Institute of Literature. The event unveiled the outstanding works of the first global Chinese poetry collection, and Hao Jiapeng, a student of the School of Literature and History of the University, won the prize of the first global Chinese poetry collection - Lilac Poetry Society Campus Poetry Award.
The Global Chinese Poetry Call was organized by the October Literature Institute of the October Magazine. The call attracted 10,955 submissions from 31 countries and regions and received more than 68,000 poems. With “Five Poems”, Hao Jiapeng, a Chinese Language and Literature major in the School of Literature and History, Class of 2021, stood out from the crowd of entries and finally won the Lilac Poetry Society Campus Poetry Award, the First Global Chinese Poetry Collection Competition, and was invited to appear on the stage as a representative of the young poets, and on the same stage were outstanding students from Peking University, Renmin University of China, Beijing Normal University, and the University of Macao.
Hao Jiapeng is now a member of the “Shijiazhuang City Writers Association”, the head of the Poetry Group of the Society for Extracting the Essence of Literature and History of the school. He has won the single prize for ancient poetry creation in Hebei University Students' Humanities Knowledge Contest for three consecutive years, and was awarded the title of “Cultural Master” by 100 industrialists in Luancheng District. “Poetry is a bridge between the ancient and modern, young people should give life to the tradition of new perspectives”. Hao Jiapeng said, “I will continue to uphold the humanistic feelings of “embracing Taihang’s peaks in the west, leaning Hutuo’s streams in the north”, continue to inject youthful vigour into classical poetry, writing the contemporary chapter of the inheritance and innovation of Chinese outstanding traditional culture.
The award is not only a breakthrough for Hao Jiapeng’s personal creation, but also a microcosm of the achievements of humanistic education in our university. The leader of the School of Literature and History said that the school will continue to take the Society for Extracting the Essence of Literature and History as a platform, through the competition to promote learning, research and reading to promote writing and other initiatives to deepen the traditional culture education.
