Professor Chen Peiyong of Peking University was Invited to Give a Lecture at Our University

In order to further study the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on the research and construction of Marxist theory in the new era and promote the construction of high-level application-oriented universities, the School of Marxism and the Office of Academic Research jointly held the special activity and erudite forum of “Weekend Experts Hebei Tour” on the afternoon of December 4th. Professor Chen Peiyong, Chief Expert of the “Marxist Theory Research and Construction Project”, “Young Changjiang Scholar” of the Ministry of Education, Vice Dean and Doctoral Supervisor of the School of Marxism at Peking University, was invited to deliver a special report entitled “Positive Interaction Between Ideological and Political Course Teaching and Academic Research in the New Era”. More than 50 teachers and students from the School of Marxism at our university listened to the report.
Before the event began, Party Secretary Chen Liang and Professor Chen Peiyong held talks on topics such as the teaching reform of ideological and political courses, Marxist theory research, and the coordinated development of universities in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei.
With his profound academic attainments and rich teaching experience, Professor Chen Peiyong, has delved into the relationship between ideological and political course teaching and academic research from two perspectives. Firstly, from the perspective of academic research needed in ideological and political course teaching, he pointed out that academic research should be committed to exploring deep-seated problems in textbooks and discovering practical problems in teaching practice. He emphasized that in order to better serve teaching, ideological and political course teachers should deeply interpret classic texts at the academic level, propose forward-looking theoretical insights, and conduct in-depth analysis in combination with practical problems. Then, from the perspective of academic research supporting teaching, he elaborated on how ideological and political course teachers can promote the effective transformation of the textbook system into the teaching system through academic research. Professor Chen Peiyong pointed out that teachers should make full use of academic research results to highlight key points, emphasize problem orientation, and closely connect with reality in the teaching process, so that students can have a deeper understanding and mastery of the course content.
During the interactive session, attending teachers actively asked questions about how to view common prosperity, how to understand Marx’s theory of justice, how to condense research topics, how research management can assist scientific research, and how local universities can focus on research directions. Professor Chen Peiyong provided clear and concise answers to each question. The entire lecture had rich academic content and a lively atmosphere for discussion.
The School of Marxism has solidly promoted the implementation and effectiveness of the university’s “1396” development strategy, clarified the working idea of two-way empowering ideological and political course teaching and Marxist theory research, systematically implemented measures such as creating a strong scientific research atmosphere, enhancing scientific research capabilities, identifying scientific research directions, forming scientific research teams, and pinpointing scientific research breakthroughs, striving to achieve breakthroughs in cultivating major scientific research achievements as soon as possible. This event is a specific measure taken by our university to implement the “Action Plan for Coordinated Development of Education in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei (2023-2025)” and the “‘Weekend Experts Hebei Tour’ Activity Work Plan” of the Education Department of Hebei Province. It promotes the in-depth exchanges and cooperation among experts and scholars from universities in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, helps to promote the construction of our university as a first-class application-oriented university, enhances our ability to serve local development, and supports the high-quality economic and social development of Shijiazhuang.
