Our university grandly held 2024 Sports Meeting from April 18th to 19th on south campus.
At 8 o’clock on April 18, the sports meeting ceremony started. Party Secretary Chen Liang, Deputy Party Secretary Wang Xibo and Vice President Feng Baoqiang as well as heads of schools and relevant departments attended the ceremony. Party Secretary Chen Liang announced the opening of 2024 Sports Meeting of Shijiazhuang University.
Accompanied by an impassioned athletes' march, the imposing national flag guard, the school flag team, the flag square team, the flower team, the referee team, and the athlete team marched forward with neat steps and entered the sports ground in sequence energetically, shouting loud slogans.
Feng Baoqiang delivered the opening speech, on behalf of the school leadership team and the organizing committee, to all athletes, coaches, referees to extend sincere greetings and heartfelt thanks to the staff who made meticulous preparation for the games. Feng Baoqiang pointed out that the school had always been adhering to the idea of educating people and strengthening people’s character through sports and had made every effort to create a new pattern of sports work of "full fitness and healthy campus". The annual spring sports meeting is an important part of the school's physical education work, and it is also a big review of the school's physical education and health education level. Moreover, it is a display of the spiritual outlook and comprehensive quality of teachers and students. He hoped that all athletes would carry forward the Olympic spirit of "faster, higher, stronger - more united", compete hard and pursue excellence in a civilized manner and that all the referees and staff strictly abide by the rules, make fair decisions, and serve warmly. It was also hoped that all teachers and students would take this sports meeting as an opportunity to effectively transform the full enthusiasm, high morale, fighting spirit and unity strength shown on the field into a strong driving force to promote the development of the school, actively integrate into the overall development of the school, and achieve greater achievements and make more contribution in the implementation of the school's "1396" development strategy. He further hoped that all these strives would open a new chapter in the construction of a first-class application-oriented university.
At the opening ceremony, the Sunshine Sports team from various schools performed a wonderful group gymnastics performance. Each participating team showed their glamour and charm through their unique and dynamic dances, highlighting the youthful spirit of contemporary college students. Their performances are the best wishes for the 75th anniversary of our motherland and for the 20th anniversary of our university’s upgrading to an undergraduate institution.
Then, the two-day games kicked off. More than 1,200 faculty members from 21 divisions participated in 5 team events and 12 individual events. More than 3,000 student athletes from 16 schools competed in 17 sports events. On the field, the athletes united and fought courageously, showing the spirit of "faster, higher, stronger - more united" vividly. The sports ground was full of passionate and cheerful atmosphere.
On the afternoon of the 19th, after the completion of all the competition items, the sports meeting was successfully concluded, and the school leaders presented awards to the winning schools and teams. In the closing speech, Deputy Party Secretary Wang Xibo said This sports meeting was warm, wonderful, safe and successful. He hoped that all departments and schools would firmly establish the educational concept of health first, and continue to guide and help students enjoy fun in physical exercise, enhance their physical fitness, and improve their character and will. He also hoped that the students could firmly stick to the concept of lifelong exercise, actively participate in sports, strengthen their health in scientific exercise, temper their will in tenacious struggle, and realize their dreams in striving. He continued to hope that the majority of teachers and students will take this sports meeting as an opportunity to further transform sportsmanship and sports fashion into a strong driving force for the implementation of the decision and deployment of the school Party Committee and firmly and effectively promote the advancement of "1396" development strategy in order to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the school's promotion to an undergraduate institution.
In this year's sports meeting, the School of Physical Education, the School of Music, and the School of Art and Design won the top three in the total group score; the School of Economics and Management, the Logistics Management Department won the group award; the School of Future Information and Technology, the Third Division of the School Office and the School of Marxism won the Excellent Organization award.
A total of 7 students broke 7 school sports records. The School of Economics and Management, the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, and the School of Geographic Science and Environment won the top three places in the total score of the 2024 Games. The School of Teacher Education, the School of Law and Sociology, the School of Science, the School of Foreign Languages, the School of Literature and History, the School of Economics and Management, the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, and the School of Journalism and Media won the Sportsmanship Award. The School of Physical Education won the Excellent Organization Award. The School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the School of Future Information and Technology, the School of Economics and Management, the School of Science, the School of Law and Sociology, the School of Geographical Science and Environment, the School of Foreign Languages, and the School of Biological Medicine and the School of Chemical Engineering were named the Advanced Collective of Sunshine Sports in 2023-2024.The Physical Education Institute won the Excellent Organization Award.
