On April 22nd, the 2024 "Book and Image Reunion World Book Day Contemporary Art Invitation Exhibition" co organized by the Contemporary Art Research Institute of Hebei Normal University, the School of Art and Design, and the School of Journalism and Media, hosted by our university library, opened in the public space on the first floor of the library. Chen Liang, Secretary of the Party Committee, Li Juan, Vice President, Li Chunlai, Deputy Director of the China Library Society and former Director of the Hebei Provincial Library, Zhang Guojun, Member of the Hebei Provincial Government Cultural and Historical Research Museum, former Vice Chairman of the Hebei Artists Association and former Director of the Hebei Academy of Painting, Ding Ruohong, Deputy Director of the Hebei Provincial Library, Cui Qiang, Dean of the School of Fine Arts and Design at Hebei Normal University and Vice Chairman of the Hebei Artists Association, Ren Jian, Deputy Director of the Contemporary Art Research Institute and Director of the Oil Painting Department at the School of Fine Arts and Design at Hebei Normal University, was invited to attend the opening ceremony. Exhibiting artists, relevant department heads of the school, and representatives of teachers and students attended.
Chen Liang announced the opening in a lively atmosphere. Li Juan delivered a speech. She pointed out that this exhibition utilized the dissemination method of "using pictures to convey texts", which is an innovative path to explore the school's "educating people with aesthetics" and "cultivating people with culture". The school will take the construction of the "Cultural Stone Academy" as the starting point, enhance the leading force of campus culture, build a platform for educating people, gather internal and external educational forces, and ensure the smooth progress of the school's "comprehensive education" work. I hope the library can further deepen the construction of collaborative platforms for co construction and sharing, highlight the role of cultural education platforms, and also hope that students can moisten their hearts and enrich their spirit through reading.
This exhibition invites and showcases the works of 69 artists, including Cui Qiang's "Deconstructed Classics" and Niu Yungong's "Scenery", covering various art forms such as oil painting, traditional Chinese painting, sculpture, and comprehensive materials. Artists pour their personalized thinking gained from reading into visual art creation, achieving cross media connection between text and images, reflecting the successful integration of books and painting, reading and art, libraries and professional departments, and creating new forms of reading promotion. During the exhibition, the library also simultaneously launched the "Exhibition of Beauty" book list, recommending more than 10 books on aesthetic education themes, in order to enhance readers' aesthetic literacy, explore the connection between reading and art, and inspire the birth of more art stories.
This exhibition is one of the series of activities organized by the library for the 2024 Reader Service Promotion Month, and will also become an effective attempt at library art education. The successful holding of the exhibition is an important measure for the school to implement the fundamental task of moral education, improve the "three comprehensive education" pattern, and promote the school's "1396" development strategy. It helps to enhance the interest and cognition of teachers and students in reading art, and promote the inheritance and innovation of traditional culture.
